Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships—October 24th
While most of us are still lathering on sunscreen, enjoying a summer-evening hack, or working our way through the best-of-summer book-reading lists, scores of people are hard at work planning “The Greatest Show on Grass.”
The 5th Annual Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships will return to Scottsdale, Arizona, Saturday, October 24, 2015. With exciting new team match-ups and solid non-stop showdown action against breathtaking backdrops of the McDowell Mountains in Scottsdale, this exhilarating two-day event is guaranteed to live up to its reputation as the country’s most attended polo event.

Polo icon and GQ Model Nic Roldan, one the sport’s hottest stars (see “At Home with Nic Roldan,” EQ Spring 2015), returns to the Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships with the Aspen Valley Polo Club to take on the reigning champions from the Clogau Wales Polo Team in the signature match of the day.
Roldan, 32, named as one of the “Top 50 Most Eligible Bachelors,” started riding at age 2 and turned pro when he was 14. He was the youngest player to compete and win the prestigious U.S. Open at age 15. Roldan, rated at eight goals, has competed in every major tournament around the world and is one of the sport’s greatest ambassadors.
The Aspen Valley Polo Club will be making its debut in Scottsdale. The club is owned by Marc and Melissa Ganzi, one of America’s most prominent polo families. (Visit the Ganzi’s in EQ magazine, page 80) Aspen Valley Polo Club hosts the annual Piaget World Snow Polo Championships in December. The high-end event is considered one of the hottest social events in Aspen, the only American city to host a snow polo tournament.
Two other matches will take place earlier in the day including Club Polo Cabo vs. Polo Azteca, and the San Diego Polo Club contesting The Arizona Polo Club. A polo clinic by some of the Valley’s premier players will follow.
Fashionable guests mingling in VIP tents, champagne-in-hand divot stomps, and lavish parties are all synonymous with the sport of kings. The Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships, offering its variety of activities and scope of entertainment, has convincingly earned the moniker, The Polo Party.
