This 1960 Walt Disney documentary won an academy adward.

The movie is about a palomino horse, Nautical, who won the team gold medal at the 1959 Pan American Games. It was in theaters on a double bill with Swiss Family Robinson, and later on Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color in 1964.

Nautical had a reputation as temperamental and was inclined to stop at water and ditch jumps. But when he was in the mood, he was an excellent jumper and when he cleared a jump, he would raise his tail. Spectators at horse shows relied on this signal to record his scores without waiting for the results from the judges. Watch the full movie here:
